This afternoon I had to go to the grocery store. I hate the grocery store. Well, maybe under different conditions, I may tolerate or even like the grocery store. But most times I go, I have from 1 to 3 children with me. Patience does not run deep in our genes – both me and them : )
This grocery trip was after working all day (part of which was facilitating a 3 hour training for about 60 people), then picking up Brooke from cheer practice, and finally going to dance class with Kate. After all this, I had to go the grocery store at about 6:00 – still in work clothes and not going by home first. Just tired!!
Brooke began a new semester at school today, so since I needed groceries and school supplies we had to go to Wal-Mart. You can just kiss an hour goodbye when you walk in.
All I wanted to do was get in and get out, but every time we go Kate thinks we are there just to look at toys. I was definitely not in the mood for that tonight – I still had to get all the groceries, get home, cook dinner, give Kate a bath and do laundry. Sometimes I wonder if I could go through the grocery store running and pushing my cart – just to get done sooner!
Kate is quick as a ninja and she was constantly putting things into the cart, while I was trying to sneak and take them out. Some of what she put in the cart today was:
- dry erase markers
- poster of Moana
- cookie dough – 2 different kinds
- pita bread
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- block of colby cheese
- bunch of bananas
- tub of butter
- sticks of butter
- frozen french fries
- candy sucker
Okay, this is all I can remember. It was a lot of stuff! It was like extreme shopping. Somebody should make this a video game – finish your shopping list, while someone keeps putting random items in your cart, and you have to get all the items out before you reach the checkout!
One of us left the store in tears – I’ll let you guess which one of the 3 of us. I was exhausted when I finally got home!
Today, Kate is my least favorite for making grocery shopping a challenging new sport.
