Custom Window Treatments

Updated: Just included photos of new window treatments below.

I have been VERY absent from my blog lately.  But good news – WE MOVED INTO OUR HOUSE!!!  After 2 1/2 years of deciding on location, house plan and then actually building, we are finally out of the rental house and into a house of our own again.  I didn’t realize it until we moved, but living in temporary housing has really taken a toll psychologically on me.  I lacked a lot of motivation in that house, whereas now in the new house I find myself waking up early, walking the dog, doing chores, cooking breakfast before work/school, etc….  – and happily doing it!  I love being the new house and it’s a totally different atmosphere and impacts the family tremendously!

Although we are moved in, there is still a lot to do.  “Work in progress,” is my term for it.  I have found that window treatments are terribly expensive and have only ordered them for two rooms at this point – the family room and the master bedroom.  Most of the other rooms have blinds installed, but these rooms have all arched windows and blinds were not the best option.  Therefore, I am having window treatments made – but it is taking around 8 weeks to complete!

In the meantime, we don’t want to continuously “flash” the neighbors, so I created the “custom window treatments” pictured here.  I taped up brown paper with blue painters tape.  Its a look – maybe not a good one – but its a look.  I am sure the neighborhood is questioning its new neighbors!

Regardless, the house – with its temporary, ugly window treatments, is my favorite today.  It’s so good to have my soul settled for a change!!

Daily tally:

Avery +2/-2, Brooke +7/0,  Kate +14/-3, Me +1/-4, My Husband +3/0, New house +2/-1,   Jack(d0g) +0/-1

Finally the new treatments have arrived!!!  I feel like a real grown up now😉

  1. The house photos look lovely! Hope you’ve settled in! I have to agree – living in a house of yuor own is much more better than living in a tmporary one. You somehow feel much more energetic, welcoming and overall happy! I love your blog – it’s very interesting! Keep up the great work! ❤️❤️ (Check out my blog – if you don’t mind) 😊
