Yes…. she’s super cute…..but don’t let her fool you. She is a real Bossy Pants!! I always had an inkling that this might be the case, but these were just small glimpses. However, we got full confirmation a few weeks back.
We were at a restaurant – we eat at restaurants WAY too often. It was a few weeks before Kate turned two, when Bossy Pants reared her ugly head.
She loves sweet tea – yes, a true Southern Girl. Evidently, she had drank all her sweet tea and wanted more. She’s an observant little diva and somehow knew that the waitress was the one to address fulfilling her needs – we had never told her this.
Well she never said a thing to me about being out of her drink, but she spied a waitress coming towards our table. Without saying a word, she grabbed her empty cut and held it out behind her as the waitress walked by. Didn’t even look at the waitress. No smile. Nothing. Ouch! A little embarrassing. Pretty demanding kid!
I, of course, apologized to the waitress and promptly told Kate that she needed to ASK for more drink – not demand more drink by holding out her cup. Who is she? Henry the VIII reincarnated?
On one hand, its good that she is independent enough to take care of her own needs (said her mother who was trying to diminish the event : ) She knew what she wanted, and she knew how to get it. I like to call that ASSERTIVE (to try to put a positive spin on it).
I think we may need to work on rounding out those rough edges with Kate and purposely practice some soft skills. I have no idea what she will be when she grows up, but there is ONE thing I do know – she will be the BOSS of whatever it is!!
So today, Kate is my least and most favorite. Least, because I am certain that she offended the waitress and looked extremely bratty. Favorite, because she just makes me laugh!
Daily tally:
Avery +1/-2, Brooke +4/0, Kate +10/-3, Me +1/-4, My Husband +2/0, New house +1/-1, Jack +0/-1
Aw…so cute! Having cared for children myself, I know all too well looks can be deceiving! 🙂

Ha… She is too funny. I asked my kids today, “Who wants to be my favorite kid?” (To get them to a chore for me) and that reminded me of your blog. Love the photo, though it reminds of when my 5 year old (4 at the time) was pulling down the shorts on mannequins at a sports store and quite loudly declaring “I can see his pee pee!”
