Scrapbook Tree

One of my favorite things about Christmas is my photo tree.  Each year, I add a new photo ornament of each child and write on the back their age, the year and their grade in school.  As I put this up each year, its like turning through the pages of a scrapbook – mushy, I know.  But if there is ever a time for mushy, its now around the holidays.  I promise I will be back to my snarky self again soon!

A few weeks ago, I was trying to tell a friend about my photo tree and my mouth wouldn’t cooperate with my brain – ever have those moments?  I was trying to tell her that I have a neat tree that not everybody does and meant to say its a photo ornament tree.  Instead I said, “I do a neat tree at my house each year, that is an ornament tree.”  Duh!  Aren’t all Christmas trees ornament trees?  So obviously this sounded really stupid!  Mouth why are you betraying me?!  My friend and I got a big kick out of it and now its a joke that this “ornament tree” that I have is really catching on around the world – we keep seeing more and more of them everywhere we go.  You have probably seen a few also!

My photo tree is definitely one of my favorite Christmas traditions and every time is walk by it, it makes me smile.

Today, all 3 of the girls are my favorites for being great kids and allowing me to have my “ornament tree.”  (Again, the sappiness will stop soon!)

Daily tally:

Avery 6/-5     Brooke 6/-1      Kate 12/-7     Jack 2/-2    Husband 3/-2    Me 0/-1

  1. I have photo ornaments on my tree too. The pics are of my kids and all the kids we’ve had as exchange students. They weren’t short-term visitors, but teenagers who lived with us for anywhere from two to 12 months.
I like your idea to add updated photos.
