This is a prime example of why I should always be completely ready before my two year old daughter wakes up. Today, I was trying to put on makeup and fix my hair to go to work. I was in the bathroom adjoining the bedroom and Sesame Street was on TV. Evidently, Sesame Street no longer holds her full attention.
When I came back into the room, she had found a pen and marked all on one side of her face – a la Mike Tyson style. Its almost as if she has seen his “interesting” facial tattoo and was emulating its style – just one side of the face. This seems to be a pattern with her – marking on her face. So much so, that when she sees pictures of herself like this, she calls herself “Marker Face.”
Also, I would like to know what makes a person, even a tiny person, want to mark on their face. I mean, if I were using the pen, I think I may mark on a part of the body where I could view my artwork myself. Perhaps, may arm or leg. Also, I could see what I was doing and make sure my masterpiece was up to snuff. Nope. The face seems to do it for Tate.
Maybe its the thrill of the unknown. You never know what you are going to get when you draw without looking…….? I have no clue. All I know is this is continuing fascination with her. I just hope she grows out of this before Kindergarten!!!
Because of her Mike Tyson artwork, Tate is my least favorite today.
